VDA Legislative Day

Our annual Legislative Day next year will take place on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009, at the State House in Montpelier. We will start setting up around 7:30am.

We hope to meet as many legislators as possible, extending the message of "We are Registered Dietitians, the Nutrition Professionals in Vermont" and "Why MNT is beneficial and cost effective in Vermont, especially during difficult budget times".

We had a great turnout last year, and hope to get even more RD's and DTR's involved this year. It is actually a very fun day and not at all scary! The legislators in Vermont are very approachable and are interested in what we have to teach them.

One goal of the VDA Public Policy Committee is to get more RDs and DTRs involved in public policy. This will help build our credibility and help us to be more involved in state policy decisions regarding nutrition and health. Even if you are not able to attend the legislative day on February 17th, I hope you will contact your legislators in your area, and introduce yourself, letting them know who you are and what you do.
